Lead: Good Things Foundation and CEP
Circular approaches have the potential to deliver simultaneously environmental and social impact. In the UK, Good Things Foundation is piloting a National Device Bank – a circular economy service designed to address the digital divide and reduce e-waste by re-using, refurbishing and/or recycling donated old tech. Yet, there are knowledge gaps about the opportunities and enablers, barriers, and risks to companies donating their old equipment. This project fills these gaps and provides recommendations for companies and other organizations using circular approaches to support social outcomes.
With the publication of Circular electronics for social good we aim to establish a vision with success measures and an improved understanding of what enables investment in circular electronics business models to reduce e-waste and fix the digital divide.
